Palakkad: The government has not yet paid the fees of the special prosecutor in the murder case of Madhu. A lawyer gets Rs 240 if he spends more than three hours in the court. According to this the government has to pay Rs. 1,63,520 to the lawyer. Advocate Rajesh M Menon has written to the Collector requesting to release this amount.
The letter is attached along with the figures that have been spent for the purpose of the case. Madhu’s mother had directly met Minister K Krishnankutty and complained about the non-payment of fees to the special prosecutor. But no action has been taken yet.
So far, Rajesh M Menon has appeared in the court in the Madhu murder case more than 40 times as a special prosecutor and as an additional. It is reported that no fees or travel expenses have been paid to the lawyer during this period. Earlier, P Gopinath, who was the prosecutor in the case, also withdrew citing this matter.
