Thiruvananthapuram: Though stray dog attacks are increasing in the state, the government is still careless on the sterilization project. Minister J Chinchu Rani explained that the project cannot be implemented without vehicles with modern facilities. Eventhough there is an increase in the number of stray dogs, the government is not resuming the scheme.
One ABC center was established in two blocks in eight district panchayats. But due to the lack of modern systems, sterilization of stray dogs is not possible.
After the sterilization surgery, the dogs have to be kept in clean kennels and the local self-governing bodies have to take care of the dogs. Also the government needs to provide vehicles with modern facilities to sterilize the dogs. This carelessness of the government is the main reason for the increase of stray dogs in the state.
