Sensex down over 700 points

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex slumped 771.94 points at 57,326.97 as selling was seen across the board. The Nifty too slipped 256.80 points at 17,070.55.

The Sensex registered days high and low at 57,708.38 and 57,255.87 points respectively. The Nifty recorded days high and low at 17,196.40 and 17,054.50 points respectively.

The Mid Cap fell 2.78 per cent and Small Cap by 3.12 per cent. In 30 scrips, 1 advanced while 29 declined.

The losers were Powergrid by 5.63 per cent to Rs 191.20, Tata Steel by 4.41 per cent to Rs 99.65, Maruti Suzuki by 3.80 per cent to Rs 8988.85, M& M by 3.24 per cent to Rs 1230.15 and IndusInd Bank by 2.98 per cent to Rs 1147.90.
