Thiruvananthapuram: Governor Arif Muhammad Khan has issued an ultimatum to appoint a search committee representative for the appointment of Kerala Vice Chancellor. He has written to the VC asking to appoint a representative today. The tenure of the current VC ends on October 24. The Governor, who is also the Chancellor, had asked the Kerala University for the replacement of VC. So far, the governor has given the VC an ultimatum for deciding on the search committee representative.
Planning Board Vice Chairman Dr V K Ramachandran was appointed as the Senate representative in the Senate meeting held on July 15, but he withdrew. The Governor had formed a five-member committee after removing the position of the Senate representative . The tenure of the committee is three months. Kozhikode IIM Director Dr. Debashish Chatterjee and Karnataka Central University VC Dr Batu Satyanarayana are members of the search committee appointed by the Governor.
The university has decided not to appoint a Senate representative until the term of the search committee formed by the governor expires. In this situation, the governor has issued an ultimatum against V.C. If the VC does not provide a Senate representative, it is indicated that the two-member committee decided by the Governor will proceed with the notification process for the appointment.
