Mumbai: As per reports, about 200 people were held in raids conducted at different Popular Front centres. The raids were conducted under the leadership of the respective state police officers.
In Maharashtra alone, 21 popular front workers got arrested. The police arrested Maulana Irfan, a prominent PFI leader in Malegaon, and his friend Iqbal. The raid was conducted following a report that hinted the plans of attacking the RSS headquarters in Nashik.
45 people from Karnataka and more than 20 members from 8 districts in Assam got detained including Abdul Kareem, PFI district president and Sheikh Muskzood, the SDPI secretary. 12 people were arrested from Shaheen Bagh, Nizamuddin in Delhi. Five people have been arrested from Ghaziabad , UP and 15 from Gujarat. The raid, started around 6 am, is still being progressed.
