New Delhi: Kerala has approached the Supreme Court with a request to permit the killing of the rabied dogs and also the violent stray dogs. The state government also asked for the permission to allow Kudumbashree units to implement the project.
There are restrictions on the killing of stray dogs for the time being. Usually they will be shifted to particular places and keep them isolated until they die. But according to state laws and regulations, stray dogs and violent dogs can be killed. The state government wants permission to kill them.
In the petition filed in the Supreme Court, the state government states that they have identified hot spots where the attack of the dogs is high. The application also points out that vaccination is being implemented across the state focusing on these areas.
