Mumbai: A Keralite was arrested for importing a large quantity of drugs into the country in disguise of importing fruits. The DRI arrested Vijin Varghese, a native of Kaladi, Ernakulam, managing director of Yammito International Foods, Mumbai. An investigation has been started for another accused , More Fresh Exports owner Thachaparamban Mansoor. He is a friend of Vijin.
198 kg of meth and 9 kg of cocaine were seized. The drugs came in the name of the company that is owned by Vijin. The DRI stated that the deal was fixed in such a way that 70 percent of the profit in the drug trade would go to Vijin and 30 percent to Mansoor. The drug was transported via ship from South Africa to Mumbai Port.
The firm’s warehouse and cold storage facilities are located in Kalady. DRI stated that this is one of the biggest drug hunts in the country. Earlier the firm also imported masks. Mansoor started a company called More Fresh with Vijin’s brother Jibin Varghese.
