Hyderabad: Customs seized gold worth crores during a search at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. Officials have seized 8 kg of gold in three different cases. The gold was captured on the basis of Intelligence inputs from the Air Intelligence Unit.
The gold was seized from a passenger who had arrived at RGI Hyderabad Emirates from Dubai. He tried to smuggle 24 carat gold. Gold worth Rs 2,57,47,700 crore weighing 4,895 kg was seized first. In the second case 12 gold bars of 24 carat were found while checking the bag of the passenger who arrived at RGIA Hyderabad Emirates. Customs officials said it would weigh 1,400 grams.
Customs found 12 gold bars from the third person. In a one-day operation, gold worth crores was seized from three persons. Further investigation has been ordered in the case.
