Thiruvananthapuram: The Congress leader Cheriyan Philip said that politics and religion are equally responsible for superstitious thoughts. He also said that the ruling party of the state is responsible for the increase in such thoughts.

The vote bank politics will play a major role in developing such beliefs in people. The associated religions are supporting such superstitions for their mere existence. He also demanded the political parties to take firm decisions against such illogical social practices.

He had said his opinion in the background of the recent incident of human sacrifice that was held in Pathanamthitta district. Police captured three culprits who murdered two others in a most heinous way.
