Kochi: The High Court has removed the controversial statement in the order of anticipatory bail of Civic Chandran who was arrested in a sexual harassment case. The HC removed the Kozhikode District Sessions court’s statement that the victim wore a provocative dress. The court said that the reference to the dress was unnecessary.
The High Court upheld the bail order. The High Court clarified that Civic Chandran can continue on anticipatory bail considering his age. The action is based on the appeals filed by the government and the complainant against the lower court order.
The HC had earlier stayed the order giving anticipatory bail plea. But the court had directed that no arrest should be made on the basis of age till the decision is taken on the petition. The government had pointed out in the petition that there were legal errors in the District court order. The government had told the court that the remarks from the lower court is anti-women and is against the guidelines of the Top Court.
The complaint is that, after the camp held on February 8, 2020, when the complaint was resting on the beach side Civic Chandran sexually harassed the complainant.
