New Delhi: A setback for Popular Front leader from Kerala E Abubakar. The Delhi High Court rejected Abubakar’s bail plea. A single bench headed by Justice Anoop Kumar Mendiratta dismissed the petition.
Abubakar filed a bail application in the High Court citing health problems. He had stated in the petition that he is suffering from gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma which is a rare cancer and besides this he is suffering from other lifestyle diseases. The treatment was stopped as he is being in police custody, hence he sought bail. But all these arguments were rejected by the court. Public prosecutor Akshay Mallik appeared for NIA.
E Abubakar was arrested by the NIA on September 22 after he was found to be involved in anti-national activities. A case has been taken against Abubakar under non-bailable sections including UAPA.
