Thiruvananthapuram: Governor Arif Muhammad Khan took an unusual step in Kerala University. The Governor withdrew 15 members who are the Chancellor’s nominees of the University Senate.
The decision of the governor is considered as an unusual step in history. The governor had directed an urgent meeting of the senate to decide on the nominee for the search committee to appoint the new vice chancellor. But members refused to attend the meeting and thus it was adjourned. With this, the Governor asked the VC for the complete list of those who did not participate in the meeting.
On checking this list, the Governor realized that the fifteen members did not attend the meeting. The governor decided to withdraw them immediately. From today they have become non- members of the senate.
