Thiruvananthapuram: Governor Arif Muhammad Khan asked for the list of professors for the appointment of temporary VCs. He asked for the list of professors who have completed ten years service. Governor sent a letter pointing the same to the VCs of Kerala, Calicut, MG, Kannur and KUSAT universities. The Raj Bhavan informed to give the list immediately.
The tenure of the Kerala University Vice Chancellor will end on 24 October. Usually, the post of the interim VC will be given to the VC of other universities. But, except the Agriculture University, the VC can take decisions regarding the appointment of the VC of all other universities. Earlier, the Governor used to discuss it with the state government. But in the current situation, he may take the authority to appoint the VC.
The list has been asked to appoint a professor from the same university to the post of the VC. As per the guidelines of the University Grant Commission (UGC), a professor with an experience of minimum 10 years can only be appointed to the post of the VC.
