Thiruvananthapuram: Vizhinjam strike is intensifying. In the background of this, a road blockade will take place under the leadership of the Latin Archdiocese. Roads will be blocked in eight centres of the district. The strike is a protest over the issues related to the construction of the port.
From 8.30 am to 3 pm, Attingal, Kazhakoottam, Station Kadavu, Chakka, Thiruvallam, Vizhinjam, poovar, Uchakkada roads will be blocked. A secretariat march will start from Palayam at 11 am. Several programs will be organized on 19th as part of the protest.
In a circular read at churches yesterday, it is mentioned that the strikes will be continued until the demands are accepted. The Government has an adamant attitude and they have not yet accepted any of the seven demands put forward by the fishermen community. The archdiocese said that the action of the government is unilateral.
