Valpara: A young plantation worker was seriously injured in a bear attack. The bear attacked P. Sabitha (19), a worker of Inchipara Estate Top Division near Valpara. The incident happened last day at 5:30 pm.
A bear hiding in the tea plantation attacked Sabitha when she came out of the house. After hearing the woman’s cry, the plantation workers made the bear run away and admitted the wounded to the government hospital in Valpara.
As the injury was serious, Sabitha was shifted to Govt Hospital, Pollachi. She is injured in the hand and leg. The forest department authorities have handed over the help for the medical expenses to Sabitha. 5000 was transferred as the first installment. Last month, a worker named Thangam of the same estate was also injured in a bear attack.
