Thiruvananthapuram: Governor Arif Muhammad Khan issued an ultimatum to the Kerala University VC. He has given instructions to issue the recall notice today itself. VC informed that it is illegal to recall the senate members. The VC also sent a letter to the Governor against the decision to recall the members.
The Governor disqualified 15 members who did not attend the senate meeting. The decision was taken against the 15 members nominated by the Governor, who is also the chancellor. But, Dr V P Mahadevan Pillai, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Kerala, has sent a letter pointing out the impracticalities to take up the order.
In that letter, the VC pointed out that the action of the secretary signing the order for the Governor is an unlawful act. He also said that the members could not attend the meeting due to the official responsibilities. By rejecting this, the Governor instructed the VC to implement the order and act appropriately.
