Ernakulam: Justice Siyad Rahman has dismisses the plea of activist Rehna Fathima, seeking stay order for the case on hurting the feelings of Hindus.
Rehna Fathima, had uploaded a cookery video on social media in which she referred the dish as ‘gomatha fry’. Pathanamthitta Police had registered a case and following this, Rehna approached the court to dismiss the case. She had also asked for a stay order for the further proceedings of the case. The High Court made the observation that her request cannot be approved . Hearing will be continued in the case.
Police filed a case against Rehna Fathima based on the complained submitted by Adv. Rajeesh Ramachandran, a native of Ernakulam. The case was taken in connection with hurting religious sentiments. Rehna Fathima has been frequently posting videos insulting Hindus. court had imposed restrictions on the activist from airing her opinion on social media.
