Kottayam: Shihab, native of Mundakkayam, the cop stationed at Idukki camp had tarnished the image of Kerala Police by stealing mangoes from a fruit stall. The video of the police stealing mangoes went viral. After almost three weeks of the incident, the case has ended up with a settlement between the shop owner and the accused. The request filed by the shop owner approved by Kanjirappally Judicial First Class Magistrate Naseeb Abdul Rasakh. The case had filed under IPC 379.
The fruit shop owner approached the court last day, requesting to settle the case. In his request, it was mentioned that the accused cop has promised to pay the amount for his loss. Meanwhile, police had opposed the settlement plea in the court.
On 30 September, Shihab, while his way back home after duty hours, stolen 10 kg mangoes, costing Rs. 600 for each kilo.
