Alappuzha: As the bird flu scare spreads in the district, culling of the ducks has started today. 20,471 ducks will be culled in Harippad.
The first phase of the preventive measures has began today. Eight Rapid Response Team has been deployed and alert has been issued for 15 local administration offices. As part of the prevention of bird flu, sale and transportation of ducks is banned. The District Collector has also informed that strict action will be taken those who violate the orders. A special squad has been set in, headed by the Collector.
H1N1 was detected in the samples taken from Vazhuthanam ward at Harippad corporation. Bird flu was confirmed in the district in last year too.
