Kochi: A group of CITU leaders assaulted a bizwoman, owner of an LPG distribution centre near Vyppin. Uma Sudheer has approached the High Court seeking police protection.
Uma, owner of A and A gas agency and a member of scheduled caste community, also alleged that CITU workers hurled casteist slur and verbally abused her.
“We are ruling the State, we know how to work and how to kill too”, said the CITU workers while insulting Uma and her husband and beaten the couple. Uma alleged there was a delay in filing the case and later, the case was registered after the video of the incident went viral.
The issue began when the CITU workers reached the agency and demanded to make permanent appointment of four labourers who were employed temporarily on a contract basis. But the agency informed inconvenience as recently, the distribution of gas cylinders got reduced.
Uma has approached HC for police protection as the CITU leaders threatened to kill the couple and disrupt the distribution of cylinders.
