Palakkad: NIA team arrested banned terrorist organization Popular Front’s state secretary C A Rauf from his house in Pattambi Karimpulli, Palakkad. He went into hiding after the Popular Front was banned. PFI was banned in the country one month ago. After receiving information that he had come home yesterday, the NIA team surrounded the house and arrested Rauf.
The arrest was recorded around 12 am. He was hiding in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The houses of his friends and relatives were under surveillance for the past few days. Earlier, NIA arrested National Chairman O M A Salam, Former Chairman E Abubakar, and National General Secretary Nasaruddin Elamaram of the organisation.
NIA got information that Popular Front is planning for terror attack all over Kerala after the ban. For this they held meetings around hundred centres. NIA also found that the meeting was done under the leadership of C A Rauf.
The secret meeting was held in disguise of SDPI and Cultural Organisations. NIA warns that PFI may move for planned terror attacks.
