Historical achievement to Kohli: Second batsman who scored 1000 runs in T20 World Cup

Perth: Virat Kohli achieved a historical run in the ICC T20 World Cup. Kohli again raised the prestige of the nation by attaining 1000 runs. He is the second player who scored 1000 runs in the T20 World Cup. Sri Lankan player Mahendra Jayavardhana is the first one who scored 1000 runs in the ICC T20 World Cup. Jayavardhena has scored 1016 runs at an average of 39.07 including a century and 6 fifties from 31 innings.

Kohli scored this while playing against South Africa in a match held at Perth. Including 2 boundaries, Kohli had scored only 12 runs from 11 balls against South Africa. But he scored the historical achievement in the meantime. Kohli has scored 1001 runs at an average of 83.41 including 12 fifties from 22 innings in T20 World Cup. Kohli is followed by the former West Indies star Chris Gayle with a score of 965 runs and Rohit Sharma, the Indian captain, with a score of 919 runs.

Kohli has the record of the player who scored maximum half centuries (12). He is also a player who scored maximum runs from 20 tournaments. He has scored 3868 runs from 112 matches.

Currently, India has lost 6 wickets in the match against South Africa.
