Gandhinagar: The cable bridge across Machu river near Mani mandir has collapsed and the panchayath minister Brijesh Merja said that “more than 60 people have died” . The incident occurred when many people, including tourists, were standing on the bridge.
The renovation work of the bridge that had been taking place for six months was completed just five days ago. It was a project worth rupees 2 crore. The bridge was opened again for the public and meanwhile it collapsed.
The rescue operations are in progress to save the life of the people who fell into the river. The reason for the accident is yet to be known.
As per reports, around 400 people have fallen into the river. The PM Narendra Modi had talked to the Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel. The PM has given instructions to make sure that the rescue operations are coordinated effectively. He also assured that all necessary support will be provided to the people who died and injured in the accident.
