Lucknow: Siddique Kappan, who was arrested by UP police for trying to riot in Hathras, has links with the banned religious terrorist organization Popular Front, the court said. In the order denying bail to Siddique Kappan, the Lucknow District Court has stated that he has links with the terrorist organization. The court also mentioned that Kappan was in regular contact with the Popular Front office bearers.
According to the court, Kappan had actively involved in PFI meetings. Kappan was in close contact with Popular Front leader K A Rauf Sharif. A group of four, including Kappan, reached Hathras as part of a conspiracy with Rauf Sharif. Their aim was to destroy religious harmony. Kappan received money from abroad. The court also stated that it was used for terrorist activities.
Kappan was denied bail in a money laundering case related to his attempt to create riots in Hathras yesterday. Although the Supreme Court granted bail in the UAPA case, Kappan could not be released from jail due to the pending case registered by the ED. Following this, he approached Lucknow District Court for bail. Kappan’s move is to approach the High Court as the bail was denied.
