Kochi: The High Court has criticized the action of the Kerala University Senate which passed a resolution against the Governor. Criticism belongs to Justice Devan Ramachandran. The justice also asked whether the university, which is claiming law in the court, had examined whether the resolution passed against the chancellor was legal.
The court pointed out that the Senate cannot pass a resolution against the Governor. The court also asked whether the resolution should be passed if there was any objection to the formation of the chancellor’s search committee. The governor told the court that the former VC and the Senate’s demand to withdraw the notification for the ejection of the VCs was illegal. This was followed by the criticism of the court.
Following this, the university clarified in the court that the selection of the search committee member will not be considered in the next day’s senate meeting. Justice Devan Ramachandran stated that the university cannot proceed without a vice-chancellor and the court is concerned about that.
