Delhi: An earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 6.3 struck Nepal, the wee hours today. A magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck near Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand in the Himalayan region near the Nepal border. The National Center for Seismology (NCS) said the quake struck at 1.57 am today. ANI reported that six people were found dead after their houses collapsed in the Doti district of Nepal. After the earthquake in Nepal, strong earth tremors were felt across northern India.

Earthquakes were also felt in Delhi, Ghaziabad and Gurugram and Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. Strong tremors lasting about 10 seconds were reported in Noida and Gurugram. This is the second earthquake to hit Nepal in five hours.
At least two earthquakes of magnitude 4.9 and 3.5 were felt in Noida and Gurugram on Tuesday evening, NCS data showed. A magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck Uttarakhand, 17 km east-southeast of Uttarkashi.
