Katni: African swine fever is spreading in Madhya Pradesh. 85 pigs died due to disease in Katni district. The Veterinary Department informed that 115 pigs have been found infected. Swine fever is spreading widely in the area. Deputy Director of Veterinary Department R K Singh said that the survey process to detect the pigs in the district is in progress and two zones have been formed for prevention.
The decision is to kill the infected pigs. Farmers will also be paid compensation for culling infected pigs. Four teams are surveying the area. The survey will be completed within two days. After that, infected pigs in the area will be killed.
The district administration informed that the compensation amount has been received from the central government and will be distributed according to the weight of the pigs. The compensation will be between Rs.2200 and a maximum of Rs.15000. A team of experts will conduct the survey in the affected areas.
