Ahmadabad: The BJP central leadership has released the first phase list of candidates contesting in the Gujarat assembly elections. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is contesting from Gatlodia constituency. The list of candidates contesting in 160 constituencies has been released in the first list. Rivaba Jadeja, wife of cricketer Ravindra Jadeja, will compete from Uttara Jamnagar. Union Ministers Mansukh Mandavya, Bhupender Yadav and BJP State President C R Patil jointly released the list. Elections will be held on December 1 and 5.
Patil said that there is a lot of confusion among the opposition and that all the prominent opposition leaders are coming to the BJP which has influenced the list of candidates. After leaving the Congress, Hardik Patel was given the BJP seat in Veerangam constituency. Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi will contest from Madura constituency.
BJP National President J P Nadda, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Ministers Bhupendra Yadav and former Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa participated in the election review meeting led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Gujarat BJP headquarters the other day.
It was during the crucial meeting that former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and three other prominent BJP leaders decided not to contest. Narendra Modi has proposed that all senior leaders should take part in the election campaign.
