Amman: India’s Lovelina Borgohein won a gold medal in Women’s 75 kg category at Asian Boxing Championship 2022. In the final round, Lovelina defeated Uzbekistan’s Ruzmetova Sokhiba. Only Pinky Rani had earlier won gold in this category at the 2017 Asian Championships.
Lovelina defeated the Uzbekistan player with a score of 5:0. It is the first time Lovelina won a medal in the 75 kg category. Earlier, she had won bronze medals in world championships, Asian championships and Olympics.
Apart from Lovelina, Parveen Hooda (63 kg) and Saveethi (81 kg) had also won gold medals in boxing. Meenakshi got the silver medal in the 52 kg category. India got three gold medals in this edition. The championship is taking place at Amman in Jordan.
