Kochi: The High Court ordered the appointment of the Vice Chancellor of KUFOS. The HC cancelled the appointment of Dr Riji John. The High Court criticised that the UGC had violated the rules in the appointment and a new search committee must be formed and the VC should be appointed as per the UGC criteria.
The judgement has been passed by a division bench presided by the Chief Justice. The crucial judgement has come out after considering the judgement of the Supreme Court. The complaint about the appointment of the VC has been filed by people including Dr. K.K. Vijayan, native of Kochi.
The claim of the petitioners was that the search committee unanimously suggested the name of Riji John against the university rules and the search committee consisted of people without the necessary academic qualifications.
