Thiruvananthapuram: Charge sheet has been submitted by Crime Branch Thiruvananthapuram Unit, in connection with the theft case against Crime Branch CI Sibi Thomas.
56 sovereigns of gold and Rs. 70,000 was stolen from Ramaswamy, an accused in ganja case, while Sibi Thomas was the S I of Peroorkkada station. The house of the accused Ramaswamy was in the Perrorkkada police station limit. Some local residents encroached Ramaswamy’s house. Following the incident, the house was under police protection, headed by Sibi Thomas.
When Ramaswamy and his wife returned home one day , they found the gold and cash was missing and they informed police that as the theft was from the house that was under protection of Peroorkkada police, the latter can not be entrusted.
A complaint was submitted before the Chief Minister and Crime Branch conducted investigation. But later, the Crime Branch came with a strange enquiry report that the gold and cash was not at all stolen and it was recovered from the house itself. The Crime Branch even justified their findings as while recording at the police station, the matter was accidently omitted. The court dismissed the strange report submitted by the Crime Branch and following this, CBI enquiry was conducted.
In the CBI probe, it was found that C I Sibi Thomas had stolen the gold and currency from Ramaswamy’s house. Charge sheet was submitted before Thiruvananthapuram First Class Judicial Magistrate Court.
