Ernakulam: The High Court will pronounce its verdict today on the petition challenging the move to appoint Priya Varghese as an associate professor in Kannur University. Justice Devan Ramachandran will pronounce the verdict today at 1.45 pm.
Priya Varghese was given first position in the rank list by violating UGC rules. Therefore, the second ranked Prof. Joseph Sacaria’s demand is to remove Priya Varghese from the list. Meanwhile, the High Court has clarified that the appointment can be proceeded only as per UGC rules.
Priya has teaching experience. The position of the university is that the petition will not stand as the appointment has not been made. But the UGC has also informed the court that she doesn’t have sufficient qualifications.
Priya Varghese says that she has the required teaching experience for the appointment of Associate Professor. Priya’s argument is that she has ten years of experience. The Kannur University Registrar also accepted the same argument in the court the other day. But this position of UGC was not accepted.
