Thiruvananthapuram: The High Court will today again consider the pleas of the vice-chancellors against the governor’s show-cause notice. The pleas of the VCs are for the cancellation of the notice. The High Court, through an interim order, had earlier directed the Governor not to take any further action on the notice till the decision on the petition arrives.
The court had earlier mentioned that VCs can decide whether to reply to the notice or not and if they want to continue as VCs, they have to follow the Chancellor’s instructions. The argument of the petitioners is to examine the legal validity of the Governor’s show cause notice.
The UGC has suggested that the governor himself should continue as the chancellor of the universities. There will be legal action in this regard soon. The UGC has directed that the Governor should be the Chancellor. Today the court is also considering the petitions filed by the senators of the Kerala University questioning the process of expelling the governor.
