Thiruvananthapuram: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate the Kazhakootam Elevated Highway. Inauguration is on the 29th of this month. Union Ministers of State V K Singh, V Muraleedharan, Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Public Works department Minister P A Muhammad Riyaz and others will participate in the event. The road construction started in December 2018. It is the longest elevated highway in the state.
The length of the elevated highway is 2.8 km. The flyover starts from Attinkuzhi and ends near Kazhakootam CSI Mission Hospital. The construction cost is Rs. 200 crores. Beside the service road of 7.5m on both sides there is 7.75m wide road under the bridge.
Inauguration and foundation stone laying of 15 projects worth Rs 45,515 crore is scheduled on November 29. The Vadakkencherry-Mannuthy six-lane road and the Kazhakoottam elevated highway will be inaugurated, including Kuthiran Tunnel. Apart from this, the foundation stone laying of 13 projects of the National Highways Authority will also be held.
