Kannur: Kannur University has assured that it will not appeal against the High Court’s finding that Priya Varghese is not qualified to be an associate professor. The university also decided to hold an emergency syndicate meeting.
The order of the High Court was to cancel the rank list and rearrange it. But Kannur University has decided not to revise the rank list at once. The qualifications of the rank list candidates will be scrutinized. The university also decided to take time to analyse teaching experience and research papers. An emergency syndicate meeting was called to discuss these matters.
Also, the University will seek legal advice in implementing the High Court judgment. Meanwhile, there is a possibility of a strong protest in Kannur University today in the context of the High Court verdict related to the appointment of Priya Varghese.
The High Court had clarified that Priya Varghese, who was appointed as an associate professor in Kannur University, did not have sufficient qualifications. With this, the appointment of Priya Varghese, who is the wife of the Chief Minister’s private secretary, was cancelled. Priya Varghese responded that she respects the court verdict and will take further steps after seeking legal advice.
