Srinagar: Police said that there are threats to journalists in Jammu and Kashmir. In the background of this, the Jammu & Kashmir police conducted searches at ten locations in Srinagar, Anantnag and Kulgam. The security has also been beefed up across the Kashmir region.
The Resistance Front, the associated organisation of Lashkar-e-Taiba had issued online threats against a few media houses in the state.
Mukthar Baba, a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist, currently based in Turkey, had published a target list and accused that the media workers are the informers of the security forces.
The police registered a case against the Renaissance Front terrorists on 12th November, for sending threatening messages. Several journalists resigned from local publications, following the threats.
It was found during the intelligence investigation that Mukhtar Baba, who was earlier arrested by the army, used to work in various newspapers in Kashmir and often visited Pakistan and was also the mastermind behind the recruitment of the Kashmiri youth to TRF.
