Dehradun: Uttarakhand Waqf Board has decided to make major changes in madrassas. Uniform will be compulsory from next academic year. The time schedule of the classes will be as of regular schools, said State Waqf Board chairman.
Uttarakhand Waqf Board chairman Shadab Shams had earlier last month told that they expect that the State Government will form a committee so as to conduct survey in all madrassas. His present statement to make thorough changes in the madrassas comes after this.
The new academic year will begin in next March. Namaz will be held five times a day and after the morning Namaz, one hour Quran learning will be scheduled. Classes will be functioning just as that of schools, from 8 am till 2 pm.
Shams also informed that students of all communities will be included in the classes. Waqf Board has not yet decided on the dress code, but that may be matching with the pattern of State’s board schools. Shams, who is also the BJP spokesman, added that it has already been declared that NCERT syllabus will be implemented in madrassas.
NCERT syllabus and dress code will be developed out of 103 madrassas as model madrassas.
