New Delhi: The decision of Jama Masjid Management Committee to ban woman has triggered outrage. The Masjid Committee had placed a notice mentioning the ban at the gates of the Jama Masjid. The note read as, women can only enter the Masjid complex only accompanied by  male member. Woman, be alone or in group, cannot enter the Masjid. The decision stirred controversy and the woman’s commission has interfered in the matter.

Woman can either come with their family members. Otherwise with a male member of her family. But the entry will not be allowed if solitary or in group. Delhi woman’s commission has responded to the Masjid Committee decision by saying that no one has the right to ban the entry of woman. A notice will be served to the Jama Masjid administration, informed Commission President Swathy Maliwal. The Masjid Commission, however has defended the woman’s commission’s interference by telling lame excuses.

As per the version of the Masjid Committee, many women come to masjid and they do ‘improper acts’. They take videos and share in social media platforms. This creates disturbance to people who come for Namaz. Hence the decision, Sabiyulla Khan, Jama Masjid P R Officer told reporters.
