New Delhi: Delhi Jama Masjid has lifted the ban on women’s entry after the intervention of Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena. The entry of women who come to the mosque alone or in groups was not allowed.
Jama Masjid Imam Shahi Imam Bukhari announced that the ban has been withdrawn. Strong criticism and protests arose after implementing the ban on women’s entry. After this, in a meeting, V K Saxena Shahi had asked Imam Bukhari to withdraw the decision. The decision was taken after this.
The mosque had decided to ban the entry of women who are coming alone or in groups, on the grounds of some unethical activities. And it was said that the ban was imposed due to this.
Soon after the announcement, criticisms were raised from various sectors. The Delhi Women’s Commission issued a notice on the incident and the president Swathi Malliwal had come with a public criticism too.
