Kochi: Three persons including a woman arrested for illegally smuggling gold and iPhones through Nedumbassery airport. Customs arrested Moinuddin, a native of Palakkad who had arrived from Delhi.
He smuggled 1156 gram gold worth Rs forty seven lakh. The gold was stored in the form of capsules that were inserted in his body. Five hundred gram of gold worth Rs twenty six lakh and an iPhone were seized from two other women who also had come from Delhi.
Last day, two people from Tamil Nadu were caught from the airport while trying to smuggle gold worth Rs two crore in the form of ten capsules. Syed Abu Tahir and Barakatullah, natives of Ramanathapuram, were arrested for an attempt to smuggle 6,454 gram of gold.
