Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court has opposed the Trinamool Congress Government’s attempt to create additional posts to occupy ineligible party supporters. Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay said that the Election Commission must ask the Trinamool Congress to cancel its recognition and freeze its symbol.
The education department informed the court that the Government has decided to create additional posts in the department of education to appoint teachers who lost their job in the controversies regarding the appointment. Justice Gangopadhyay said that he is really surprised and how a government could appoint such unqualified candidates.
He said that a Government should not favour any kind of illegal appointments. The government must withdraw the notification regarding the vacancies that was published on 19th May. He also said that he fears that democracy is not in the right hands. The court asked how a government can spend that much money for the appointment of such ineligible candidates.
