Mumbai: It has been 14 years since the Mumbai terror attack, which is considered a black day in the history of India. Ten Lashkar terrorists were in the city of Mumbai that day. They targeted Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Hotel Trident, Nariman House, Leopold Cafe and Cama Hospital. 166 people including security personnel and civilians were killed in the attack by Pakistani terrorists. Meanwhile, security forces killed nine terrorists. Ajmal Kasab, who was caught alive, was hanged on 21 November 2012.
On November 26, Lashkar terrorists reached Mumbai in a speedboat from Karachi. Then two terrorists entered Trident, two entered Taj Hotel and four entered Nariman House. Kasab and Ismail Khan opened fire at CSMT. After the attack, they moved to Kama Hospital. After attacking six policemen, including police officers Ashok Kamte, Vijay Salaskar, and former Mumbai Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) chief Hemant Karkare, they hijacked a police jeep.
But a team from Gamdevi Police Station arrested the terrorists near Girgaon Chowpatty. Ismail Khan was killed in the gunfight and Kasab was taken into custody. A policeman named Tukaram Ombale died that day. On November 27, the country launched a strong counter-attack against terrorism. Soldiers and Marine commandos surrounded Taj Hotel, Nariman House and Trident. They brought out the civilians trapped inside. Operations at Trident Hotel and Nariman House ended by 28 November.
But on November 29, the NSG arrived and released all the people from the Taj Hotel. Meanwhile, the country also lost an NSG commando named Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan.
