New Delhi: India’s ocean observation satellite Oceansat, the third satellite in the series, has successfully launched 8 small satellites including Bhutansat. The satellites were launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota. PSLV’s 56th mission was successfully completed.
The mission is characterized by the lengthy process of placing eight satellites into different orbits. Oceansat will separate after reaching an altitude of 742 km within 20 minutes of launch.
Earth observation satellite-6 is the third generation satellite in the Oceansat series. Bhutan’s satellites, Pixel-developed Anand satellite, space startup Dhratu Space’s Thybolt and four US-based Astrocast satellites will reach orbit.
