Thiruvananthapuram: A strong alert has been issued in Vizhinjam after hours of clashes and attacks. More police will be deployed. ADGP informed that the situation has returned to normal.
The protesters dispersed late at night with the assurance that those arrested would be released. They completely destroyed the police station. Around 6 police officers were injured. 8 people are in critical condition. The rioters destroyed police vehicles and also attacked a KSRTC bus.
The protesters who were arrested yesterday will be produced before court today. A case will be filed against them for attacking the police station. An all-party meeting will be held today headed by the District Collector. The discussion is with the church leadership and the strike committee. Protesters including women and priests surrounded the police station demanding the release of the protestors who were taken into custody the previous day.
