Kochi: The High Court will today consider the pleas of VCs challenging Governor Arif Mohammad Khan’s show cause notice. Earlier, the court had given an interim order that no further action should be taken on the notice till the final decision on the petitions. A bench of Justice Devan Ramachandran is hearing the petitions.
The argument of the VCs is that the move of the governor is to expel the VCs and it has no legal validity. The argument is that the chancellor who appointed the VCs is now saying that the appointment was wrong. But the governor has clarified that the preliminary list of the vice chancellors was prepared against the UGC norms and after realizing that many of them did not have enough qualifications, he asked them to resign. The petition of the VCs is being considered after the court verdict upholding the Governor’s action regarding the appointment of the Technical University VC.
