Ahmedabad: The first phase of polling is progressing in 182 constituencies for 89 seats in Gujarat. Twenty five percent votes casted till 1 pm. Voters will decide the fate of 788 candidates in the polling stretches from 8 am to 5 in the evening.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited Gujarat for campaign and requested people to reach booths and cast their votes. PM took twitter to say the voters to utilise their right to vote and also to create record.
Polling booths are crowded from the morning itself. Several candidates and other famous personalities casted their votes in the morning.
Among 2,39,76,670 candidates, 9.8 lakh are in 80 plus age group and 10,000 are 100 years and above.
