Thiruvananthapuram: Governor Arif Muhammad Khan lashed out at the state government. He accused the government of rushing to make back-door appointments in universities. He added that there should be no nepotism in universities and the head of universities is the Chancellor.
He alleged that the bill to change the position of chancellor is not according to the UGC rules. The Governor clarified that the appointment of the VC will be made after the High Court verdict. He said that 35 lakhs had been properly spent on legal advice on the university.
The government is not trying to maintain law and order in Vizhinjam. The governor accused the government of not wanting to end the Vizhinjam strike. He criticized that the government has no time to look after law and order and that the government is more interested in controlling the universities.
He alleged that the government is not concerned about the students. The Governor also reiterated that the Kannur VC is a regular offender.
