New Delhi: Harpreet Singh, the mastermind behind the December 2021 Ludhiana court blast, has been arrested by NIA. He was arrested immediately after returning from Malaysia. The blast was in the name of the International Sikh Youth Federation. The blast took place in the Ludhiana court on 23 December 2021. One person was killed and five were injured.
The International Sikh Youth Federation is headed by Lakhbir Singh Rode, based in Pakistan. As per Rode’s instructions, the blast was carried out using an IED brought from Pakistan. The NIA court had earlier issued a non-bailable warrant against Harpreet Singh. The NIA had issued a lookout notice for him and announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for his arrest.
Apart from various sections of Indian Penal Code, UAPA, Explosives Act, causing damage to public property etc, a case has been filed against Harpreet Singh. He was involved in the activities of the International Sikh Youth Federation in Malaysia. He was arrested by the NIA at the Delhi airport.
