Bengaluru: NIA has officially taken charge of the investigation of the Mangalore auto rickshaw blast, from the Karnataka police. The NIA team interrogated Mohammad Shariq, the suspect in the case, who was injured in the case and is undergoing treatment.
The NIA questioned the suspect when the doctors informed that his health was fine. Earlier NIA had conducted a preliminary investigation in the case and submitted a report to the Ministry of Home Affairs. The State Government had recommended the central agency to take up the investigation. Following this, the NIA has officially taken up the investigation on the basis of the order of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The central agencies intervened in the case after the terrorist link was confirmed in the blast. In the background of the Mangaluru blast, a special investigation is also being conducted regarding the activities of terrorist groups in the southern states of India.
