Bhopal: More Cheetahs to land India from South Africa. Both nations have agreed to bring more cheetahs to Kuno National Parks as part of Project Cheetah. More cheetahs are about to come to the country after the MoU in this regard was approved by the Foreign Affairs Minister of South Africa.
12 cheetahs are being brought to Kuno in the second phase. Cheetahs were brought to India last September. Eight Cheetahs were brought from Namibia and they are now safe in Kuno. This led to the decision of bringing more cheetahs.
Last July, the country issued a memorandum of understanding to South Africa requesting twelve more cheetahs. But due to several reasons it was delayed. Currently, the procedures have started to bring the rest of the Cheetahs to India. As part of this, nine out of twelve cheetahs have been kept under observation in Rooiberg and the others are in Phinda and Kwazulu.
